I see that all soaps are down, but I'm struck by how the very expensive trip to Australia, which promised the most excitement ever, was a ratings bust for B&B. The 3rd wedding for Steam, and the Eric/Quinn/Ridge/Brooke story, didn't draw in viewers. I'm not surprised, though I thought some might tune in for all the 30th anniversary hoopla. It all starts with story and if the story isn't compelling, the viewers won't care if the scene takes place outside the Sydney Opera House or a pretty beach. |

Its seems all the soaps are not doing to well but Days is in big danger of dropping under 2 million viewers if they don't stop this bleeding and look at the demos in both women 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 i say no more lets hope next week they gain and have some sort of increase. |

So right, the Quinn/Ridge mess has not any sense (the way it has been written is so stupid and I don't find anything sexy in the so called sexual chemestry between the actors) and it's the third Steam wedding in few years (plus I don't like any pairing with Liam or Wyatt), nothing to much appealing Edited by Jair, Mar 31 2017, 12:34 PM.

DAYS is 100% in the danger zone of unrecoverable loss. |

They know it, too, but there's nothing they can do about it. I'm surprised that with numbers starting that low at the beginning of the week they still managed to stay over 2 million. I doubt they'll be able to maintain that. But I've thought that before, so... |

I don't think they is any such thing as unrecoverable loss its not like the show has put a figure on how low ratings can go before its totally doomed NBC keep renewing what ever the ratings are that is a positive thing that what ever they are they are behind the show. |

Yes - this show has reached certain levels that they have never recovered from again...certain sizable drops in viewership in the past occurred in a fairly short amount of time and the show was never able to recover those. They have now been consistently below the 2.2 million level over the last few months (something many saw as a bottom baseline for their viewership) and now is eroding even further, threatening to drop below 2 million. This is compounded with the drops occurring in the most important demo. To me, this means that they are losing some of their most loyal, most profitable/coveted, most die-hard viewership base that up to now have not been driven away even during times of horrible story in the past. Making a "ride or die" fan walk away is damaging...you don't often get those type of fans back. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Mar 31 2017, 02:40 PM.

They have. They've just never reached it. They're already renewed though, so that doesn't matter right now. The problem now is how low they'll go before the changes hit, and whether or not they'll be able to bring people back in. The last 17 or so years have basically been one long unrecoverable loss. |

It is bad but March brings the bad ratings to all of TV. March and April usually suck across the board. It's been that way for the past decade. Even when a show is doing well, they usually fall pretty badly this time of year. Days was lucky they had that good week in last week's numbers. That was incredibly unusual and gave them one good week to stop the bleeding. If this were happening during in the September-February time frame, I do think it would be hard to come back from. However, timing is everything and hitting record lows this time of year or even in the summer months is not really a big deal. The audience isn't always there so it's not like it's the stories driving them away. They are off doing other things and watching on demand, online, or on DVR if need be. The show will be able to get themselves back up to where they did this past Fall but can they go beyond that? That is the question. Ron and co has to do something big come September. They need an event to spark things and build momentum. I do think the show will rebound a little and probably stay above 2 million for the most part heading into Ron's material because they will have the buildup to the murder mystery and certain stories ending but they can't afford to have a bumpy, slow transition period. |

They are close to that number...and that is why it is concerning that they still have about 4 months to go before Dena's influence is gone. They better have some solid fall stories ready to go, some controversial, headline grabbing stuff. That is why all these "myron, anne, gabi, whatever" being spotted filming lately is making me very nervous. |

I know March-late April is a time of lower ratings...but this feels different to me...this feels like a true loss for the show. We will see. By May we will have an idea how bad the damage truly is and if this show can even survive that type of viewership loss. |

I can't agree with that i am am talking about the last 17 years because if that was the case Days would been cancelled a long time ago yes ratings have fallen over the years but i was told as long as NBC was happy and was making a profit from the show that is all that matters. With them giving Corday a reduced budget may that is the saving grace for the show as these super low ratings won't hurt them so much that is only my opinion we know he getting less from NBC compared to a few years ago he even said it in a recent interview he not to long ago. |

What number are you talking about? Below 2 million in viewers overall? |

Other soaps are doing similarly bad. Especially, Y&R that is having even bigger losses, especially in the demos. GH is the only show that is doing relatively well in w18-49. If Days gets cancelled, with these trends other shows likely won't last much longer either. |

It's not an opinion. It's a fact. You not agreeing won't change it. I'm not talking about numbers that get them cancelled. I am, however, talking about numbers that cause major budget cuts. See 2008. |

I feel like it is said every year that the show can't rebound and it does. As has been pointed out, Days is hardly the only show struggling. The others are falling badly as well. Days just started from a lower point so any falls will resort in hitting new lows at this point. The fact that it has taken Days this long to hit this point shows there is still alot of audience there that will stick by them no matter what. I don't see them falling much more. Should they be worried? Of course. But I wouldn't be in a full blown panic given the time of year. Your right that they better have big stuff planned and the transition can't be slow. They need to start fast and never look back. |

I know about 2008 i have the book with Corday explaining how the show almost went under and he had no choice but to fire the vets he also very happy with 2009 and that baby switch story line so the show did recover from that sticky time. Also in a interview a few weeks ago Corday did a interview saying the show has no money now that is why it has to tape 6 months ahead and he wished NBC could him give the present that they gave him in 2010 so budget cuts of 2008 couldn't been that bad i think is a bit of liar. His book is very interesting to read i am sure you have it as well it was the one he brought out in 2010 Isyie. |

We're not talking about the show being cancelled. We're talking about whether or not they can recover the numbers. They have not even come close to recovering those numbers. And I know what book it is. I typed up excerpts of it FOR YOU when it came out. |

Where I live the schools have been on Spring Break this week or last week & a lot of families are on vacation. I wonder if this hurts the ratings in March ? I really hope Days can hang in there till RC's stuff starts up. |
